The soya bean crop best performs in Northern parts of Uganda with an estimated 30,000 tons national production per year. Soya is mainly used in the processing of soy cake for animal feed, soy oil and flour for human consumption. Soya bean has relatively high protein contents ranging from 25 – 45 % protein content, as such making it ideal for blending with low protein food sources such as grain to produce affordable high protein animal and food products. We on average produce 2,000 – 3,000 tons of soya been per annum from 2 seasons whose average market price for the past years has been 1,500 Uganda Shillings per Kilo.
